The Project
The new Uncle Bucks Play Parlour features a range of bespoke equipment and finishes custom designed and inspired by the existing restaurants Ice Creamery. A holistic approach throughout the design process has led to an integrated playspace that seamlessly blends in with the surrounding structures and building framework. There are a range of play opportunities available with different pieces of equipment offering stepped levels of challenge for all ages and skill sets.

The new Uncle Bucks Play Parlour features a range of bespoke equipment and finishes custom designed and inspired by the existing restaurants Ice Creamery. A holistic approach throughout the design process has led to an integrated playspace that seamlessly blends in with the surrounding structures and building framework. There are a range of play opportunities available with different pieces of equipment offering stepped levels of challenge for all ages and skill sets.

Rope Tower
3.2m wide and 8m high this vertical rope tower is the peak challenge of the Uncle Bucks play area requiring dextrous limbs and brave hearts to complete.
Working in collaboration with the building designer we were able to engineer and integrate the rope structure into the framework of the building, creating a seamless transition between ropes and surrounding structure.
The design features an inner platform system that allows users to move up and down the tower safely whilst those looking for a higher level of challenge can traverse through the outer ropes in a freestyle mode. Safety considerations allow for 3 catch nets should any user misplace a foot or hand.
Rope Tower

Play Wall
Designed to maximise the 6m ceiling height this 1.2m wide play wall creates a vertical maze of wavy platforms, scramble nets and vertical ladders. Kids are able to choose their own path of play with endless opportunities to move up/down or side to side.
The vertical support posts of the wall are positioned in front of the window mullions, seamlessly integrating the play structure into the building framework.
Special attention was paid to the connection detailing of anti-climb mesh and platforms with a focus on hiding them from view and creating emphasis on the undulating platform shapes.

Junior Mounds
This mid level junior area aimed at 2-6 years olds features 3 pre fabricated mound structures with in built climbing holds, posts, tunnel, wafer boards, slide and bridge.
Each mound was individually detailed in CAD to allow for the inset play equipment whilst providing a perfectly rounded sub-structure for the rubber wet pour overlay.
These ice cream style mounds provide a range of positive play experiences for kids of different skill levels. Climb and scramble from mound to mound, across the bridge and down the junior slide or scale the rock wall on the large mound for an added challenge.

Inspired by ice cream sprinkles this bespoke rock wall brings a 2m high climbing challenge to those looking to enter the rope tower or access the play wall system on the lower level.
Each panel is fabricated from a clear acrylic sheet with custom artwork to the back side and is flush mounted into the tower frame for a sleek and integrated finish.

Inspired by ice cream sprinkles this bespoke rock wall brings a 2m high climbing challenge to those looking to enter the rope tower or access the play wall system on the lower level.

The pink tube slide is easily accessible from the 1st level of the tower and play wall system whilst the rotating helix slide brings a whizzing reward to those who are game to climb their way to the top of the rope tower.
